After his mother died and everything pointed to her having been killed by the Nazis, the young Adolfo joined the French Resistance. He was a dyer, loved chemistry, and was a talented forger able to make hitherto indelible inks disappear. This proved the beginning of a long double life during which he would provide false passports and papers to many resistance movements all over the world.
